French at Forge Wood School

 

The National Curriculum states that teaching of a modern foreign language in Key Stage 2 should focus on enabling pupils to gain knowledge and skills in one language.  The teaching should provide a balance of spoken and written language and should lay the foundations for further foreign teaching at Key Stage 3.

 

At Forge Wood School, we will provide a stimulating and exciting learning journey to help the children develop the knowledge and skills to understand, speak, read and write French.  We will enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond, both in speech and in writing.  Our language teaching will nurture a love of French, as well as a passion for learning further languages and cultural curiosity to really celebrate the huge variety of languages spoken by our Forge Wood families.
